ecuadorian tagua bracelet
This apricot Ecuadorian tagua bracelet draws attention when worn alone, and yet its charm is heightened when coupled with another. When you wear this piece, you will see and feel the authentic artistry of the steady and patient hand of an Ecuadorian artisan.
Tagua (tahg-wah) is a product of the Ecuadorian Ivory Palm and when polished it is nearly indistinguishable from genuine ivory because of its remarkable natural patterning, gleam and weight.
Each piece carries a subtle soHza sister dragonfly symbol, quietly reminding others that you’re a woman at the center of change.
Having flown the earth
for 300 million years,
dragonflies symbolize our ability
to overcome times of hardship.
They can remind us
to take time to reconnect
with our own strength,
a portion of every purchase goes to a local women’s cause.
The soHza sister Ecuador Dragonfly Collection
SoHza jewelry is made from love of family, love of community, love of the earth’s natural beauty, love of peace. We partner with artisan businesses in Ecuador to create colorful jewelry made with natural materials. While many people in Ecuador struggle to find a reliable, dignified job, earning a fair income, send their children to school, and create a better life for their families. They are keeping their cultural heritage alive by making their art a viable source of income, using natural materials. Ecuadorian Artisans carve, dye, and polish natural seeds like tagua, acai, and pambil to create sustainable and beautiful jewelry.
This group was our first global partners. We selected them to create our original soHza sister Equador Dragonfly Collection.
Why does soHza Sister love dragonflies? They are ancient and beautiful. They’re the symbol of change. Our sole mission is to empower 1 million women and girls to change their lives by 2020 – whether she’s an artisan in Ecuador lifting herself out of poverty or a 10-year-old in Ripley, Ohio, looking for a safe place to study after school.
The dragonfly on each elegant statement piece also serves to remind you that you are facilitating that change. And to thank you for it.
